The idea
As you age, income can't stop if your job does. A partly ventured life (PVL) means planting some income streams for the long term.

Start with something you know
Begin with one venture and learn it well. You can add another later, or decide one is enough.

Give each asset more than one job
Give a building or a skill more than one use. Ours is a bookstore, a vacation suite and an event space.

Set your hours based on your life
Decide how many hours a week you want to work. Then choose ventures that fit inside those hours.

Our story
Our real-life example
In 2025 we bought an 1845 building on Main Street in Madison, Indiana. After a year of renovation, it opened in July 2026 as a bookstore, a vacation suite and an event loft.
We're not contractors or developers. Just a couple with five kids and four grandkids trying to plan for "preretirement." We share what's working, what's not, and what it costs.
